News and Updates regarding Webmail

We're pleased to announce the upgrade of the @mail product to the latest available release. Below we list the improvements to the product which we feel are of most value to you. At any time you can review the full product Changelog here.

NEW FEATURES IN RELEASE 5.4

Firefox 3 Support - Atmail 5.4 includes full support for Firefox 3, embracing the most popular release of Firefox. Includes full support of the Advanced XUL interface. Changes include Javascript tweaks to be made compatible with Firefox 3 and XUL interface changes for the Calendar and the mail interface.

New Websync Version - The latest Websync for Atmail 5.4 now supports full synchronization of recurrence patterns in Outlook for Calendar and Tasks. In addition the Availability and Date-alert field are now added to synchronize to Webmail for Calendar objects.

NEW FEATURES IN PREVIOUS RELEASES

Move Message To and From Your Inbox - You can now move message to and from your Inbox. Prior versions limited this to moving messages only from your Inbox to other folders; however, with the protocol upgrade with this latest version, you can now move them in or out of the Inbox. We are very excited about this development becuase it has been the #1 most requested feature of the webmail system.

Outlook 2007 Sync Support - Outlook 2007 support is now included for the WebSync utility, allowing users to synchronize their Calendar, Address-book and Tasks with the Webmail server and vice-versa. The Websync utility is a plugin for Outlook which uses MAPI, and can communicate to the @Mail server via HTTP/HTTPS. Full synchronization support is enabled, including Shared address-book and Calendar events.

Recurring Appointments in Calendar - @Mail now supports recurring Appointments in the Webmail interface. This completes the inbuilt Calendar of @Mail to be a true desktop Calendar replacement, and running all via the Web. You can define simple patterns for recurrence, repeat the event Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly. Full advanced pattern support is also included. Advanced recurring appointments include specific days, rotation on specified period, repeat after X events, terminate on a given date, and advanced date patterns based on cycles.

True Folder Synchronization- You can already synchronize your webmail with Outlook, but now you can also synchronize it with virtually any email application on the planet. Switch your desktop application to use IMAP instead of POP3, and then any folders you create in your desktop application will be instantly available to webmail as well, and vice-versa. Because of the way POP3 protocol works, it typically removes all messages from the server when you download mail to your desktop application, so if your going to change to use IMAP, please be very careful not to delete your existing POP3 mail that you've already downloaded. Most mail applications handle this gracefully.

Filtering Improvements - There have been many code improvements to the email filtering. The previous releases of @mail have always had minor bugs related to email filtering; however, best we can tell they have resolved all bugs and filtering works perfect now. You can access email filters via the folders menu and you an filter by the sender's address or any text within the subject.

We've outlined some of the major improvements; however, there are many... many other changes and improvements have been added to the 5.2 release. The @mail team has a complete changelog online here.

CHANGES IN THIS RELEASE

Bug Fixes - The @mail development team has fixed hundreds of bugs. Too many to list. A complete list of changes can be found here.

AJAX Interface Available - Many of the reported issues with the AJAX interface have been fixed. The option to use it is again available at the login screen.

Spell Check Missing in Simple Interface- Due to a compatibility issue with the simple interface, the developers had to remove the spell checker from the simple interface. The advanced interface has a fully functional spell checker, please try it out. Also browsers like Firefox have a built-in in-line spell checker which is very convenient for use with webmail or any other forms.

Unified Advanced Interface - Regardless whether you use Firefox or IE to access webmail, the Advanced interface drop-down is the same for both, no more choosing between the two.
